Netanyahu’s Long Game of False Nuclear Alarms Finally Pays Off
It’s impossible to ignore the irony: Benjamin Netanyahu has spent over three decades warning that Iran is “on the verge” of developing a nuclear weapon. From the early 1990s to now, the Israeli prime minister has pushed this line with religious fervor—even as international watchdogs like the IAEA consistently found no evidence that Iran was close to such a capability. Like the myth of Saddam Hussein’s WMDs in 2003, this claim has endured not because of facts, but because of political utility. With a skillful blend of pressure, fear tactics, and effusive praise, Netanyahu has finally convinced Trump to do what successive U.S. presidents resisted: launch direct military strikes against Iran—something Israel has long craved but could never risk doing alone.

Fordow: buried under 80 meters of mountain, reportedly hit with six GBU-57 bunker-busters.
Natanz: a massive enrichment facility already struck by Israel earlier this month, now targeted by U.S. Tomahawk missiles.
Esfahan: a conversion and fuel-fabrication center, also bombed.
Trump claims all three sites were “obliterated.” Iran says damage was “limited,” and no radiation spikes were detected. Independent verification is still pending.
